In mid-March 2019 I headed to Kyun Pila in the Mergui Archipelago, Myanmar to create a video for the luxurious Awei Pila Resort. The concept was to promote the island which currently has only two developments: Awei Pila Resort and a Moken village. The Moken are the traditional inhabitants of the Mergui Archipelago and are sometimes referred to as “sea-gypsies.” They have inhabited the islands for generations and are known for their nomadic lifestyle and underwater diving abilities.

Over the course of nearly a week we (3 models @_daisydarling and @tippythehippy and Marc) went hiking, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, took a cooking class, cocktail making class, spent a day cleaning plastic from the waters and enjoyed the spectacular views from the pool. The resort was state-of-the-art and luxurious in every way.

The island is full of wildlife including wild boars, Brahminy kites, Russell’s Vipers, hermit crabs, loads of fish and many more. While flying the drone (Mavic Air, which is quite small) it was chased a number of times by the kites and narrowly escaped unharmed. If the kites got it I’m sure it wouldn’t have returned with me.
